Estrellas San Sebastian

The Estrellas Poker Tour (sponsored by PokerStars) continues to offer poker fans in Spain and nearby countries the chance to enjoy live tournament action, featuring stops in locales such as Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, and San Sebastian.

Estrellas San Sebastian will be held at Casino Kursaal and offer similar fare to the other stops on the tournament circuit, with a main event, side events, and cash games so that players have plenty of poker action to enjoy.

Alejandro Piñeiro won the last ESPT stop in Alicante, taking down €75,800 for his win, so players have plenty of incentive to give the Estrellas series a shot.

Poker is still growing in popularity in Spain and relatively new, so the fields are softer than what you’ll find in an event in the UK or Scandinavia; lots of circuit regulars now go out of their way to hit up events like Estrellas San Sebastian, as easier tables and a softer field plus a trip to beautiful Spain is a very attractive proposition to many.

PokerStars is the sponsor of the series and the home of numerous online satellites that award trip packages. Players have the option of playing for full trip packages (which cover their main event buy-in, hotel, and travel expenses) as well as seat-only packages, which just provide the buy-in for the Estrellas San Sebastian main event.

Satellites run throughout the week and come in many different buy-ins, with the smaller ones feeding into larger online finals where the trip packages are up for grabs, letting players with modest bankrolls take their shot as well to enjoy playing at a ESPT event.
