The WSOP Main Event needs no introduction for most poker fans, as year after year it’s the crown jewel of the poker world, offering up by far the largest field and poker’s biggest payday, with recent winners taking home $8 million to $9 million in cold, hard cash.
The WSOP Main Event sports a $10,000 buy-in and draws thousands of poker fans from around the globe, each hoping to go on an incredible run at the tables that will end with the ultimate prize: the title of WSOP Main Event champion and the millions in prize money that come with it.
The Main Event is actually just one of nearly 60 poker tournaments to be held at the Rio as part of the 2011 WSOP schedule, with various buy-ins from $1,000 to $50,000, and famed WSOP bracelets going to the winner of each event.
Featuring four different starting days, the 2011 WSOP Main Event kicks off on July 7th and runs through July 19th, when the final nine players are determined. The Main Event then takes a break until November, when the final nine (aka the “November Nine”) return to the Penn and Teller theater in the Rio to play down to a winner.
As far as online satellites, nearly every online poker site offers some form of Main Event trip packages, but PartyPoker offers not only some of the best weekly packages but also hospitality and special activities arranged for players during the event. PartyPoker also is offering various freeroll promotions to play your way to the Main Event for free as well as daily smaller satellites that lead to the weekly finals.
